Most manufacturers handle a customer's drawings, models, and process specifications under a confidentiality agreement they signed years ago. ISO 9001 clause 8.5.3 says you identify, verify, protect, and safeguard that property. The floor half of that is routine. The digital half is where the contractual obligation and the actual practice come apart.
On an engagement, James works the receiving dock and the supplier file: incoming inspection, verification of externally provided product, identification and traceability, and what happens to nonconforming material after someone finds it.
